Leadership transition and Board changes
Connect Saint Helena Ltd is strengthening its leadership and governance arrangements as it enters an important period of delivery across its energy, water and wastewater programmes.
Leadership transition
Roeland van der Hoeven resigned as Chief Executive Officer for family reasons, with his final day agreed as 14 September 2026. He continued to act as CEO remotely until then to ensure an orderly handover.
Phanual Shangwa, a long-standing member of the Connect team with extensive knowledge of the organisation and its programmes, leads the company from 15 September 2026, providing continuity across its work on renewable energy, water and wastewater.
Strengthening the Board
At an Extraordinary General Meeting on 3 September 2026, the shareholder was asked to increase the maximum size of the Board from seven to eight members. This allows the company to fill an existing Board vacancy while appointing an additional member, widening the diversity, experience and expertise available to the Board.
