Electricity tariff change from 1 September 2026
From 1 September 2026, the electricity tariff increases by 1p per unit for both domestic and commercial customers.
The adjustment responds to a recent rise in fuel prices. The St Helena Government anticipated this pressure and is absorbing an additional 2p per unit through extra subsidy to Connect, so the increase passed on to customers is limited to 1p.
Per unit (kWh), for domestic and commercial customers alike.
| Customer type | Before | From 1 September 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic, first 1,000 units | £0.46 per kWh | £0.47 per kWh |
| Domestic above 1,000 units, and commercial | £0.57 per kWh | £0.58 per kWh |
How the tariff is made up
The full breakdown, including the fuel component, overheads, subsidies, the domestic discount and the uplift for higher use, is in the press release (PDF).
