Changes to utility charges: what you need to know

Published

The Utilities Regulatory Authority has approved increases to water and sewerage charges as part of the regulated tariff framework that keeps St Helena's essential services sustainable.

Sewerage

From 1 July 2026, sewerage standing charges increase by 10%, in line with Utilities Regulatory Authority Gazette 57 of 2026. This supports the operation, maintenance and eventual replacement of wastewater infrastructure.

Water

Under Utilities Regulatory Authority Gazette 62 of 2025, water tariffs increase by 10% each year until they reflect the full cost of supplying water, or until the Authority directs otherwise. The next increase takes effect on 1 August 2026 and appears on bills issued from that date.

Electricity

Electricity tariffs follow the cost of the diesel used for generation, so they can move as global fuel prices change. Any change is made within the approved framework, and customers are told before it takes effect.
